Earth is our home, and we don't particularly like the idea of living on Mars.
Carl Sagan Said it Best:
"Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam... Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves"
Committed to Conservation
Our management and limited partners are aligned in the belief that with any financial success comes a commensurate duty to the individuals, communities, and natural resources that enabled said financial success. We strive to work with investors and portfolio companies that share a sense of responsibility and environmental stewardship, and are willing to put significant effort towards those ends. The nonprofit sector will always have a unique and vital role in effecting the change we envision, but we feel that they spend too much time raising money, often to the detriment of the real mission. We believe our profits can be better used to finance projects and organizations that are fighting climate change, resource depletion, fossil fuel dependency, and food insecurity, than to simply enrich our bank accounts. Tremendous View Capital donates a large portion of any carried interest to our philanthropic arm, where it supports our conservation projects and partner organizations.
Walking the Walk
In order to demonstrate and codify the pervasive conservation ethos within our firm, Tremendous View Capital has made many efforts to run our business as sustainably as possible. All of our electricity is sourced from GEE certified renewable suppliers, our paper products are 100% recycled post consumer product, and we offset the carbon footprint of our annual travel. We are a pending B-Corp, and are thrilled to be joining the community of businesses that are committed to doing good while doing well. We also offer up our conference space and other resources to our non-profit partner organizations.
